⁷ But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or his stature because I have rejected him. Humans do not see what the Lord sees,^[a] for humans see what is visible, but the Lord sees the heart.”^(A)

²² After removing him,^(A) he raised up David as their king and testified about him, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse to be a man after my own heart,^[a](B) who will carry out all my will.’
